Blast from the Past

Wednesday, April 6, 2016

Today is going to be a long day for me because I want to check out an event in the evening, and then come home to watch to recorded episodes of two different reality shows. I woke up around 7am, fed Gumby, and I enjoyed my wrap sandwich breakfast with a cup of Coffee Press coffee. Then, I got ready for my yoga workout and put together a change of clothes and shoes for the evening event. Since the Improv is at the Spectrum Center, next to the gym that I go to, I decided to stay there for the event. It just wasn’t worth it to drive back home and then drive back to the Spectrum in traffic for no reason. I didn’t bring a novel to read because reading makes me tired and sleepy, and I will end up falling asleep or become very sluggish. Anyway, as I drove to the Spectrum, I suddenly noticed that there was a line forming on University Drive, and I automatically thought to myself not another accident because there is always some kind of car accident on this street, probably because of idiot drivers. And, sure enough, I saw the black banged up jeep by the Strawberry Farms, which is actually across the street from the Mobile gas station. It happened at the entrance of the Strawberry Farms, and I noticed the front right side of the jeep was smashed. There was a young boy sitting on the ground outside, and other people in that area, but I kept driving toward my destination. But I am not a bit surprised. I just hope these drivers just stay the hell away from me and my cars. After I parked at my usual parking section at the Spectrum Center, I walked to the gym and noticed a very humid morning, which felt like summertime. After one hour of yoga, I went into the locker room and changed my clothes into a blue knee-length pencil skirt, matching sleeveless turtleneck blouse, beige long cardigan, and strappy wedges. I also had changed my purse into a Regalcrest messenger purse. I brought along one of my eggplant wraps, and I went outside in the courtyard to enjoy my lunch. I decided to walk to my car to place my yoga clothes and mat inside my trunk. I walked by to the mall, trying to decide what to do or check out for the rest of the time until the event. Since it was very humid and hot outside, and it was making me feel sluggish and sleepy, I decided to buy a cup of coffee. So, I went to the Nordstorm CafĂ© for a cup of Caramel Macchiato. I walked around to check out some stuff, and I chatted with some people along the way. I noticed that it was very peaceful and quiet today, with not much people around, probably because it is the middle of the week as well as not a holiday. I went by a Newstand, and bought a cold drink, which was really good and I plan to buy more of it in the future. The ICE drink is a flavored sparkling mountain spring water drink with Pomegranate-Blueberry flavor. I was reading the ingredients on the bottle, and I noticed that it has Vitamin D, B3, B6, B12, B5, Biotin, green tea extract, and antioxidants, which sounds good to me for sparkling spring water. There is also another citrus flavored sparkling water that I buy at Trader Joe’s, but I don’t think it has vitamins and antioxidants. But the mall was very peaceful and quiet today that I felt that I was meditating on my surroundings as well as the people I met. I walked to the Newstand store, and I bought a tart candy that I don’t really eat anymore, but I used to like a lot when I was a kid. My favorite candy when I was a kid was those tart candies, cotton candy and apple on stick. So, I went back into my childhood days and enjoyed SLUSH PUPPIES DIP-N-LIK, which is a small lollipop with tart powder candy. I dipped my lollipop into the blue raspberry powder and enjoyed the tart flavor. It was a blast from the past experience in my middle age, and it felt meditative. At just after 3pm, I felt a welcomed cool air blow on my face, which felt really good. They finally showed up at around 7pm, but I didn’t know who they were, and I just walked around asking for the OCMeetUp group. Apparently, there were other groups there of mostly middle-aged people. But I don’t think I fit in with them because I look younger than them, and I mostly fit in better with the younger crowd. But, oh well, I just went with the flow. We walked inside, and I sat at a front table, right next to the stage, with a group of strangers. I ordered some onion rings, which were another “blast from the past” item or food that I used to enjoy as a kid. I haven’t eaten onion rings in a long time. I haven’t been to an Improv show since the early nineties. It was entertaining, and the comics had some funny jokes. One of the comedians also did some magic acts with his cute green parrot as his sidekick.

When I walked out of the Improv at 9:30pm, I noticed that most stores were closed or closing for the night. It was even quieter at the mall, with just a couple of people standing somewhere chatting together, while others were walking towards their car. The mall looked deserted. I think it is more fun to go to the mall during the weekend because it is filled with a huge crowd, which looks more like an amusement park, especially with all the kiddie rides going on at the mall. It now looked like a ghost town, with all the kiddie rides shut down and colorful lights turned off, like the carnival has moved out of town. This mall looks fun and nice during weekend nights.

As I crossed the street towards my parked car, two idiots in their separate car almost ran over me. I guess they are both blind, and they didn’t see a woman crossing the pedestrian crosswalk. As I drove home, I noticed the streets were very quiet, with occasional car driving by me, now and then, but it was mostly deserted. It was really a very peaceful day and night as well as an introspective meditative experience for me.

I arrive home, made a cup of herb tea, and I got ready to watch to recorded episodes. I was very tired, and I ended up sleeping at 1am.
